NEWS: Planned Parenthood Action Fund Endorses Stephanie Murphy for Congress

ORLANDO – Today, Planned Parenthood Action Fund announced their endorsement of former national security specialist Stephanie Murphy for Congress in Florida’s Seventh Congressional District. The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization formed as the advocacy and nonpartisan political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. The Action Fund engages in educational, advocacy and electoral activity, including legislative advocacy, voter education, and grassroots organizing.

“The Planned Parenthood Action Fund is proud to endorse Stephanie Murphy for Congress,” said Anna Eskamami, of the Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates. “Unlike her opponent, Stephanie supports Planned Parenthood health centers and wants to ensure that patients are able to access birth control and cancer screenings and the other preventive care they provide. Cutting off access to reproductive may be a talking point for some politicians like Rep. John Mica, but their words and policies have devastating consequences.”

“I’m honored to receive Planned Parenthood Action Fund’s endorsement,” said Murphy. “Women’s health care is under attack by Rep. John Mica and Republicans in Washington, who have repeatedly voted to prevent women from making their own health care and family planning decisions. While my opponent votes against women and supports government intrusion into private health care decisions, I’m committed to working with Planned Parenthood to improve access to health care for women across the country.”

Murphy is running for Congress in Florida’s Seventh Congressional District, which includes all of Seminole County and northern Orange County, including Winter Park and much of downtown Orlando.
